{"id":1843,"date":"2021-01-28T16:31:29","date_gmt":"2021-01-28T21:31:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rohs.ca\/news\/?p=1843"},"modified":"2021-03-28T16:37:54","modified_gmt":"2021-03-28T20:37:54","slug":"saudi-arabia-proposes-rohs-regulation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rohs.ca\/news\/2021\/01\/28\/saudi-arabia-proposes-rohs-regulation\/","title":{"rendered":"Saudi Arabia \u2013 Proposes RoHS Regulation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In November 2020, the Saudi Arabian Standards, Metrology and Quality Organisation (SASO) notified the WTO of a proposed RoHS regulation.\u00a0 Technical requirements are similar to EU RoHS with the following product categories proposed in the scope:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Large household appliances<\/li>\n<li>Small household appliances<\/li>\n<li>Information and communication technology equipment<\/li>\n<li>Lighting equipment<\/li>\n<li>Electrical and electronic tools<\/li>\n<li>Leisure, recreation and sports equipment<\/li>\n<li>Monitoring and control tools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Exclusions are proposed for medical devices, military equipment,\u00a0large-scale stationary industrial tools, large scale fixed installations\u00a0and\u00a0aerospace equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Manufacturers should note that that the proposed regulation has more prescriptive conformity assessment requirements than EU RoHS, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a quality management system<\/li>\n<li>certificate of conformity (Type 1a per IEC \/ ISO 17067) and related test report<\/li>\n<li>technical file that includes the supplier DoC, risk assessment, warning and manuals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Documents must be submitted to the relevant authority.
