\u2013 RoHS Exemptions Published"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On March 25, 2020, the European Commission published five Delegated Directives with updates to EU RoHS exemptions \u2013 two updates to Annex III and three updates to Annex IV.\u00a0 The Delegated Directives are (EU) 2020\/360, 2020\/361 and 2020\/364 to 2020\/366.\u00a0 The published text is available on the Europa website<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EU RoHS Annex III:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Taking effect April 1, 2021, in Annex III to Directive 2011\/65\/EU, entry 9 is replaced by the following:<\/p>\n\n<table id=\"tablepress-61\" class=\"tablepress tablepress-id-61\">\n<tbody class=\"row-striping row-hover\">\n<tr class=\"row-1\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">9<\/td><td class=\"column-2\">Hexavalent chromium as an anticorrosion agent of the carbon steel cooling system in absorption refrigerators up to 0,75 % by weight in the cooling solution<\/td><td class=\"column-3\">Applies to categories 8, 9 and 11 and expires on:<br \/>\n\u2014 21 July 2021 for categories 8 and 9 other than in vitro diagnostic medical devices and industrial monitoring and control instruments,<br \/>\n\u2014 21 July 2023 for category 8 in vitro diagnostic medical devices,<br \/>\n\u2014 21 July 2024 for category 9 industrial monitoring and control instruments, and for category 11.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-2\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">9(a)-I<\/td><td class=\"column-2\">Up to 0,75 % hexavalent chromium by weight, used as an anticorrosion agent in the cooling solution of carbon steel cooling systems of absorption refrigerators (including minibars) designed to operate fully or partly with electrical heater, having an average utilised power input < 75 W at constant running conditions<\/td><td class=\"column-3\">Applies to categories 1-7 and 10 and expires on 5 March 2021.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-3\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">9(a)-II<\/td><td class=\"column-2\">Up to 0,75 % hexavalent chromium by weight, used as an anticorrosion agent in the cooling solution of carbon steel cooling systems of absorption refrigerators:<br \/>\n\u2014 designed to operate fully or partly with electrical heater, having an average utilised power input \u2265 75 W at constant running conditions,<br \/>\n\u2014 designed to fully operate with non-electrical heater.<\/td><td class=\"column-3\">Applies to categories 1-7 and 10 and expires on 21 July 2021.\u2019<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<!-- #tablepress-61 from cache -->\n<p>As of April 1, 2021, in Annex III to Directive 2011\/65\/EU, entry 41 is replaced by the following:<\/p>\n\n<table id=\"tablepress-60\" class=\"tablepress tablepress-id-60\">\n<thead>\n<tr class=\"row-1\">\n\t<th class=\"column-1\">41<\/th><th class=\"column-2\">Lead in solders and termination finishes of electrical and electronic components and finishes of printed circuit boards used in ignition modules and other electrical and electronic engine control systems, which for technical reasons must be mounted directly on or in the crankcase or cylinder of hand-held combustion engines (classes SH:1, SH:2, SH:3 of Directive 97\/68\/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council\u00a0(*1))<\/th><th class=\"column-3\">Applies to all categories and expires on:<br \/>\n\u2014 31 March 2022 for categories 1 to 7, 10 and 11;<br \/>\n\u2014 21 July 2021 for categories 8 and 9 other than in vitro diagnostic medical devices and industrial monitoring and control instruments;<br \/>\n\u2014 21 July 2023 for category 8 in vitro diagnostic medical devices;<br \/>\n\u2014 21 July 2024 for category 9 industrial monitoring and control instruments.<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n<tbody class=\"row-striping row-hover\">\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<!-- #tablepress-60 from cache -->\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/?uri=uriserv:OJ.L_.2020.067.01.0125.01.ENG&amp;toc=OJ:L:2020:067:TOC#ntc*1-L_2020067EN.01012801-E0001\">(*1)<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0Directive 97\/68\/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 December 1997 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to measures against the emission of gaseous and particulate pollutants from internal combustion engines to be installed in non-road mobile machinery (<a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/AUTO\/?uri=OJ:L:1998:059:TOC\">OJ L 59, 27.2.1998, p. 1<\/a>).\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong>Annex IV Updates<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As of April 1, 2021, in Annex IV to Directive 2011\/65\/EU, entry 37 is replaced by the following:<\/p>\n\n<table id=\"tablepress-59\" class=\"tablepress tablepress-id-59\">\n<tbody class=\"row-striping row-hover\">\n<tr class=\"row-1\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">37<\/td><td class=\"column-2\">Lead in platinized platinum electrodes used for conductivity measurements where at least one of the following conditions applies:<br \/>\n(a)\twide-range measurements with a conductivity range covering more than 1 order of magnitude (e.g. range between 0,1 mS\/m and 5 mS\/m) in laboratory applications for unknown concentrations;<br \/>\n(b)\tmeasurements of solutions where an accuracy of +\/\u2013 1 % of the sample range and where high corrosion resistance of the electrode are required for any of the following:<br \/>\n(i)\tsolutions with an acidity less than pH 1;<br \/>\n(ii)\tsolutions with an alkalinity more than pH13;<br \/>\n(iii)\tcorrosive solutions containing halogen gas;<br \/>\n<br \/>\n(c)\tmeasurements of conductivities above 100 mS\/m that must be performed with portable instruments.<br \/>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-2\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\"><\/td><td class=\"column-2\">Expires on 31 December 2025.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<!-- #tablepress-59 from cache gases.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-2\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\"><\/td><td class=\"column-2\">Expires on 31 March 2022.\u2019<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<!-- #tablepress-58 from cache resolution greater than 450 TV lines which are used in environments with ionising radiation exposure exceeding 100 Gy\/hour and a total dose in excess of 100kGy.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-2\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\"><\/td><td class=\"column-2\">Applies to category 9.
